There are so many things that are potential health risks in a move. Injuries can come from pulled muscles, dropped items, thrown out backs, dehydration, heat exhaustion, overexertion... any number of things! Let's go over a few things, and how to prevent them.
The first step to ensuring a safe move starts before the movers arrive. Proper packing will save toes and backs! Balance the weight out in each box. No box should be heavier than about 25 kilograms. If the boxes are too heavy, they will be more difficult to take up and down any stairs, and may cause back strain! Also, know the approximate dimensions of your new home. If the passageways are too narrow, pick packaging that is appropriate! Big boxes or items won't fit down narrow hallways, so make a plan of how to get these items into your new home safely and undamaged. Also, make sure to clear the path to the truck both the old and new homes.
Back injuries are all too common when moving heavy items. Be careful and be prepared! Some simple things can be done to help avoid these painful injuries. First, make sure everyone stretches properly before starting moving. It seems silly, but it can go a long way to helping prevent back trauma. Also, consider investing in a few back braces for the heavy lifters. These are useful all the time, not just for moving times!
Which brings up another point: dress appropriately. Loose fitting clothing and close toed shoes are a must. Sandals lead to broken toes, slips and falls. Make sure to have shoes with a non-slip sole, and good ankle support. Also, while loose fitting clothing is important, try to avoid any clothing that may get caught between objects or in doors.
If you're doing the moving on your own, or with your friends and family, please be considerate to them, and rent the right equipment. Dollies, gloves, back braces and furniture sliders are all incredibly useful. Gloves both protect your fingers and give extra grip on all things. Dollies and furniture sliders can transform the chore of moving heavy furniture and appliances into a breeze as they slide or roll right out of the house and into the moving truck. We've already mentioned back braces, but they're worth mentioning again!
Just like clearing the path to the truck, be on the lookout for dangers! A common problem: leaky appliances that drip water when being moved and rainy days. Keep the floors dry at all times, and figure out a way to keep the rain outside, not in. Also, make sure to keep the paths of egress clear for anyone moving in and out of the house, especially those carrying heavy objects! Make sure to keep in mind obstacles like low branches, uneven sidewalks, etc. Make sure to point these out to your helpers! Children and pets can also be obstacles, so make sure they are properly entertained and out of the way!
Also, it's probably a good idea to have a first aid kit on standby just in case. Bandages, wraps, pain killers, first aid creams, etc. Much better to be over-prepared and have no emergency than to have an emergency and no way to handle it!
While you may have opted for a DIY move, sometimes it's still a good idea to hire movers for large, heavy objects. These items are much more risky and difficult to get moved in and out of houses. Appliances and furniture may need to be broken down, disconnected, and then reassembled in the new home. Especially with wiring, the experts might be your best friend!
Lastly, keep in mind other weather considerations. Hot days will require more hydration and break times. Cold days will require proper attire and care. Have some extras on hand for your helpers to make sure they don't get heat exhaustion or other injuries! And, don't forget to feed them!

Where do I want to live?
So, you've chosen a city to live in! Congratulations! Now, you'll need to pick a good neighborhood for yourself, your family, and/or any small, furry family members you may have. Here's another list of common tips from around the web to think about to help pick the very best neighborhood for you!
1. If possible, pay a visit to the neighborhood before deciding it's right for you.
2. Figure out how much time it will take to commute to work, to school, to extracurricular activities, etc. If it's too much, then you'll know.3. Sight isn't the only sense, so don't forget to check out the audible environment too. Do you hear shouting? Sirens in the distance? Lawnmowers, construction, trains at odd hours? Fixing up, and moving out!
First of all, please make sure you've done a thorough walk-through and taken photos before you move in, and after we've helped you move everything out of your home. Repairs and cleaning fees can really rack up, so be sure to protect yourself!
Second, at the bottom of this post, please find some helpful links detailing how to do some big hole repairs and also tips about what not to do! Let us highlight a few things: toothpaste is not a good way to repair small holes! Don't cut paint off your wall to take it to be color matched! Joint compound will do the trick for the holes, and your landlord should be able to provide you with a color sample for the walls if you need to paint, or a wall paper code for wall paper if it really needs to be patched. Landlords can often do this for much cheaper than the cost of doing it yourself, and the chance of extra penalties if you make a mistake is removed.Third, the most important thing to do in a rental situation is to always protect yourself! We guarantee any damage we do to your residence while we are helping to move your items in or out, but it's important to take steps to protect yourself against potentially tricky landlords!

Need to get out in a hurry?
We of course all have those tragic or upsetting incidents that require us to move quickly, but sometimes it's a fresh opportunity that causes our prompt relocations. Maybe it's a new baby, a new job, a new opportunity in a new city. Maybe it's a windfall that allows us to upgrade, or move closer to our loved ones. Whatever the reason, what do you do when you need to relocate quick, fast, and in a hurry?
"Recently, I found a steal of a deal on a new place. Three times the size, own my own place, and pay the same (yes, the SAME) price I was paying for a rental. The catch? I had to move out within the week or pay out the nose for having two residences. What a choice! What should I do? Who could possibly help me with all of this?
So, I started taking stock of what I needed to do to make this all happen. I had work, girlfriend commitments, and all the other things you have to do to keep on living/breathing/working/not dying. I needed to pack everything, find a way to move it out, and clean up the apartment afterwards. After staring down the barrel at an impossible task, I decided to research hiring a moving company.
I called around in Singapore to look for good movers, when I found KNT. I explained to them the situation, and they really helped me out of the bind. First, they gave me a cut rate deal on a storage unit to move everything out of my current residence early. Then, they gave me an even better deal on moving everything into, and unpacking, my new home.

The Renovation Problem
Recently, we found yet another difficult problem we can help take care of: The renovation move. We just helped out with such an occasion. The family home was due for a remodeling, the amount of items piled in every room to sort through was definitely daunting.
The family tried hard to manage the house, but it quickly became too much for them. So, they called us!
First, we gave them a good rate on a storage unit for their items. Some of these, they were uncertain of selling or distributing among family members. This gave them more time to parse through these and make those tricky decisions together, instead of rushing through into decisions in haste. Memories and keepsakes are impossible to get back, so it was important for them to be able to carefully sort through these and let the family all find the items that were important for them.
The next thing we did was help them to carefully and securely pack all the items they were sure to sell (furniture, oversized items, etc.) in properly labeled containers to be delivered to the appropriate destinations for liquidation. In our country, it's so hard to transport large items efficiently. Many of the family members travel by bus or taxi, since it's so expensive and troublesome to own your own car in Singapore. Better than taking things piecemeal and spending countless hours wrapping and packing, this saved them a lot of time and heartache, having to return repeatedly.
Lastly, we of course delivered all of these items for them to their destinations, for no extra cost than a normal move. The relocation of loved family members is hard enough already without adding in financial burdens and investing innumerable hours trying to take care of their belongings. We understand how difficult things can be, and want to provide quality, affordable options to handle these difficult events.
So, the family got everything they really wanted: They had time to sift through belongings to help make sure everyone received their keepsake and memorable items to help reminisce (and sort out any disputes over coveted items), they got the house emptied and ready for remodeling, and they got all of the items sent to auction that needed to go, all with one easy, customer friendly phone call!

A Big School Move
Yet another moving story for you all to enjoy. This time, it's not a company or a house, but a school!
"If you've only ever moved a one room apartment or small house, then you have no idea what a real headache moving can be. Imagine if you had to move not an office building, not a house or a home, but, imagine moving an entire school.
There are 24 classrooms, 14 storage rooms, the library, the teacher's room, the art room, the science lab.... there are so many rooms we don't want to count! There were so many chairs we couldn't count!
This year, we decided to move using only our staff, and a few of our colleagues from nearby schools. I cannot tell you how much of a mistake this was. We rented a few trucks at first. We all gathered at 7 am, and started packing. Each teacher had packed their own desk, and their own affects from each classroom. We thought it would be just hauling a few truckloads from the old school to our brand new, state of the art facility. Boy, were we wrong!
By 10 am, we knew we were in trouble... After two truckloads and a lot of blood, sweat, and a few tears, we had barely made a dent in our move. We took a little break, and our principal called around looking for more rental trucks and more helping hands to lend us their strength. We managed to pick a few more trucks, and 3 more helpers, but by 5 pm, we hadn't even finished packing and moving half the school... The chairs and desks ended up taking us two days all by themselves, much less the other items we needed to move.
After we got everything moved, it took almost the entire month to unpack and sort and adapt everything to our newer facilities. It took us three days to unpack and throw away boxes before we could start really sorting everything out... If only we'd had someone who could help with all of this...
The next time we decide to move, we unanimously decided to hire a professional moving company who could not only help with transportation, but with the take down and set up after everything was relocated. This was supposed to be our relaxing end of the year vacation, but it turned out to be a total nightmare!"
